THROWBACKThursday!

Childhood memories
games we uses to play when we were young.

These past school holidays I noticed that children weren't doing what we would normally do, which would be to play outside from the morning till our parents would shout our names from across the street.
I will be taking us down memory lane,

Hide and seek
We all enjoyed a game of hide and seek, the more the merrier when it came to the number of friends playing. The exciting part would be finding the oddest place to hide just as to make it hard for the person who had to search for the others after counting up to 100.  Though we may all have played the game slightly differently and probably called it something else. But we all had one thing in common we loved it!

AmaTini (3 tins game)

This game has to be the most favourite out of them all. Each child would have the task of going home to look for a tin of some sort so that the tallest tower could be created. Then a ball made of plastics would be used to bring the tower down. There would be teams, team A and team B. Each team would destroy the others tower. While the team is trying to rebuild, the other is earning points.

Jump rope 'skipping'

This game would be a joy to play, as songs would be created that would enable us to skip in rhythm. This particular game required a lot of concentration to ensure that one doesn't lose and find themselves out of the game.

 Marbles (amaAli)

This game needed your utmost attention, because one mistake you could be out and also have to wait a long time to play again.

Izingedo

I am not sure what the english name for this game is but what i do know is that it was a lovely game to play. Small stones would be collected and a bigger one which would be used to play the actual game. Just like the game of marbles concentration was very key.

The kids of ' today' will never understand the joy of creating games and fun without having to pay for it. We literally used things we could find in the yard and that created alot of memories that we will share with our children one day.
