Monday Weekend Wrap- Wrapping up the weekend that was
Not so graceful Mugabe
Zimbabwe's first lady, has been granted diplomatic immunity. It is said the minister put in a lot of thought coming to this conclusion. Seeing that the country has a lot of relations with Zimbabwe, she found it important that the relationship should be preserved. Forgetting ungraceful Mugabe, attacked a young woman causing her several damages. I find it quite upsetting and disappointing that high profiled individuals get preferential treatment from the authorities. There are countless of other cases involving so called ''celebrities'' that have been treated differently, then they say we are all equal in the eyes of the law.
Could Mzwanele Manyi be the new front man for the Gupta's?
These speculations have come flying, after the news emerged that he had bought the media houses ANN7 and the new age news paper for a whooping 450million. I honestly don't believe that the Gupta's would just let go without wanting to still have a hand in the businesses. him buying the companies, secures 7500 jobs which is amazing considering the skyrocketing unemployment rates. However I wouldn't be surprised if the Gupta's still pull the strings behind the scenes.
Mamelodi Sundowns off to a great start
The Absa premiership is back in action, it is quite exciting having some football back on TV. The Brazilians welcomed rivals Supersport United to the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe stadium to a pulsating derby. The match had everything a derby needed. Both teams brought their A game on the day. During the first half each team had chances but no goals were produced. In the 34th minute Captain Hlompho Kekana gave Pitso's side the lead, with a lowered effort into the far corner of the goal post. Supersport tried to keep up with the pacey Brazilians but in the second half Themba Zwane fired a gaol giving the brazilians a well deserved 2-0 win.
Orlando Pirates ship seems to be floating
Orlando Pirates secured a win over Chippa United this past Saturday. The goal from Gabuza gave Orlando Pirates first win in the new season under the new leadership of coach Milutin Sredojevic and assistant coach Rhulani Mokoena. The buccaneers didn't have a great previous season but with the new leadership the ship might just not sink.
