It is of high importance that the conversation about women in sports never dies down. The industry is still dominated by males, and it has been like that for many years. Each and every year we hear of news that they still working on implementing plans that will encourage the participation of women in the industry. This has been happening in the slowest manner, however there are women who have taken the lead and are paving the way.


Kass Naidoo- A force to be reckoned with





If you want to know anything and everything about Cricket, then this phenomenal women is the person to converse with.  She has been in the industry since 1996 working at The Mercury newspaper. Since then she has expanded her expertise into radio, television and social media. She has  pushed through all the obstacles that she encountered and went to be the first female cricket commentator on television at the age of 27. Working vigorously to promote and encourage women to get into sports through her online initiative Gspot Trust.  Kaas can be heard on radio 2000 on the daily sports show called Game on amplified, Monday -Friday 6-7.


Akhona Makalima- A rose among thorns





Soccer has to the most watched and loved sport in the world. Each game brings electrifying atmospheres and intensity. Right in the middle of the pitch  you will find Akhona Makalima ready to start officiating the match. She has a strong head on her shoulders and has earned the respect she receives.

Each time she is seen on  the supersports channel, we can recognise and appreciate her growth. She knows what she is talking about  and also knows how to interact with her interviewees. She has been part and parcel of the Multichoice diski challenge. Her talent and potential are plentiful.

When it come to the boxing world the name Mbali Zantsi, rings quite a lot of bells. She is a female promoter who has worked hard to mark her place in the industry. She believes in helping individuals reach their highest potential. Leading the way in ensuring that women prompters are recognised and respected.





There are plenty more women who are making their voices heard, and work recognised and respected.
