Wednesday Ode to women- Womens Day

On this day years ago a group of approximately 20000 women marched to Pretoria, to hand over a petition against the laws that forced people to carry passes. The march was lead by strong and courageous women such as, Lilian Ngoyi, Helen Joseph, Rahima Moosa. May we each day learn something from the braveness and determination that they displayed on that day. May we not be deterred from achieving our goals, as well as creating a better future for the next generation of women. We should stand together especially in the days and times we are living in, where each day a woman is killed, raped and abused in the hands of men.

Not only do we face abuse and violence, but we are also subjected to inequality in the workplace and society in general. Till this day most managerial positions in companies are being filled by men, because we are being  underestimated and discriminated against . That is unacceptable, we are capable of doing anything we set our minds on. It is important to know that our place is not in the kitchen but it should be out there in the world fighting for equal rights.

These are some women that have dedicated their lives to ensuring that women are heard, and are heard loudly!
