Image
Shedding the spotlight on Sho Madjozi    Instagram @shomadjozi This 25 year old who comes from  Limpopo  takes pride in who she is and has chosen to rap in Xitsonga citing that it feels right for her to do so. Her dress sense could be described as quirky and interesting, as she has heavily infused traditional clothing into her everyday style and we totally love that. I have chosen to shed the spotlight on her because she inspires many to stay true to who they are. Not only is Sho Madjozi a musician  but she is a writer , poet and an actress. She plays the role of Tsakane in  Mzansi Magic's Isithembiso. You can catch Sho Madjozi at this years Rocking The Daisies music festival in October. Here is to celebrating women who are doing great things, using their talents to the best of their abilities. Instagram @shomadjozi

Wednesday -Ode to Women- Celebrating women in the sports fraternity

Raising the bar, leading and paving the way.   It is of high importance that the conversation about women in sports never dies down. The industry is still dominated by males, and it has been like that for many years. Each and every year we hear of news that they still working on implementing plans that will encourage the participation of women in the industry. This has been happening in the slowest manner, however there are women who have taken the lead and are paving the way. Tuesday top 5- Books to add to your personal library

Image
Have you been reading lately? Reading for a long time was deemed something tedious to do, only because of that English teacher who would ask for volunteers to read passages from the class reader. To some that was the most terrifying thing to do, in most cases the teacher was only assisting the student to gain confidence in their reading. Unfortunately that is not how it was relayed to the student. I must admit that I was quite the opposite, I thoroughly enjoyed reading, used to spend most of my lunch breaks exchanging books at the library. It is satisfying to see that people are giving reading a chance, I encourage any types of reading. whether it is the local news paper or your favourite blog and magazine, anything. It is important to expand your knowledge beyond what you know, learning new words, phrases. You might think that those things are unnecessary but you might just get surprised. We need to encourage our friends and acquaintances, to put the phones down and escape the

Not so graceful Mugabe Zimbabwe's first lady, has been  granted diplomatic immunity. It is said the minister put in a lot of thought coming to this conclusion. Seeing that the country has a lot of relations with Zimbabwe, she found it important that the relationship should be  preserved. Forgetting ungraceful Mugabe, attacked a young woman causing her several damages. I find it quite upsetting and disappointing that high profiled individuals get preferential treatment from the authorities. There are countless of other cases involving so called ''celebrities'' that have been treated differently, then they say we are all equal in the eyes of the law. Could Mzwanele Manyi be the new front man for the Gupta's? These speculations have come flying, after the news emerged that he had bought the media houses ANN7 and the new age news paper for a whooping 450million. I honestly don't believe that the Gupta's would just let go without wanting t

Image
Your health is your greatest gift to yourself. It is priceless, therefore treasure it and nurture it.” Dr Phathiswa Mukansi       In the month of August it is only right that we celebrate women who are doing great for themselves and the community. This week the spotlight is on a young woman Dr. Phathiswa Mukansi, a force to be reckoned with. She is a qualified Homeopath, holding a masters degree of technology from the University of Johannesburg.   The passion she has for health, has lead her to the path of opening up her own business. My health services has been operational for the past 4 years, they offer occupational health medical examinations which is a legal requirement from the department of labour. Weekend Wrap Up- Sports edition

Caster Semenya Victorious Again Congratulations are in order for South African athlete Caster Semenya, who has conquered the 800m final in London taking the number one golden position. She has done this in the life time best of 1:55:16. This win comes at a time where her gender has been questioned ever since she made her mark back in 2009. She has brushed off these negative talks to concentrate on her track events, last week she attained a bronze medal in the 1500m race.  When asked about going for the world record she said “I have Olympic, world and Commonwealth titles now so maybe it is time to target the world record,” she said. “It’s the next thing on the list. “I know it will be difficult but I will have to attempt it soon, maybe. I have a lot of dreams to achieve.” I say she should aim for the world record because I know she can do it. She has the support of all South Africans. Anything is possible if you believe and work

Weekend Special- A night at the dome with Trevor Noah

I had not experienced anything of that magnitude, thousands of people filled up the premises in anticipation to see the son of the soil perform at home after sometime. The atmosphere was electrifying you could sense the excitement from just outside the gates. The build up to the final moment was good, as Comedian Robby Collins , Khanyisa Bunu shared a few jokes  warming us up. We were also treated to a performance by the Super mega himself who did what he does best. The only part I wasn't sure of was the singing nonetheless it was a spot on performance. 20 minutes later, the main man appeared. His very first line mentioning Bonang Mateba and her book dilemma got us in stiches. I knew that he wouldn't let that one slip away. Although the title of the show was ' There's a Gupta on my stoep', he didn't necessarily mention them through out the show which I'm grateful for because its exhausting hearing about them.  I love the fact that he is able to play wit
